ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (AP) – State Alcohol Law Enforcement officials
say they’ll continue operations such as one this past weekend in
Rocky Mount, where 35 arrests were made on charges including
selling cocaine, possessing a stolen firearm, driving while
impaired and operating an illegal alcohol establishment.
Officials say more than a dozen ALE special agents worked with
federal, state and local law enforcement agencies. Among the
arrests were the operators of two illegal “shot houses,” where
authorities say alcohol was sold.
The Rocky Mount Police Department, Nash and Edgecombe County
sheriff’s offices and Sharpsburg police participated in the
enforcement activity along with three Department of Public Safety
agencies: the state Highway Patrol, Division of Adult Correction
ALE Director John Ledford says the agency will continue to
assist local law enforcement in concentrated operations.
