Monday, March 12th, 2012

HUDSON, N.C. (AP) – Two people have been killed and two others

North Carolina Highway Patrol Sgt. R.D. Smith says the wreck
happened early Sunday outside Hudson, southeast of Lenoir.

Smith says 19-year-old Carmelo Vazquez of Hudson and 23-year-old
Bartolome Games Romero of Granite Falls. Smith says both of the
victims were in the backseat.

The driver and another passenger were hospitalized.

Authorities say the driver ran off the right side of the road

Brunswick County woman accidentally shot, killed

Monday, March 12th, 2012

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office is looking into what they say was an accidental shooting that killed a woman yesterday.

Investigators say it happened at a home on Paradise Drive in Winnabow around 1:30 p.m.

They say it appears a man was cleaning his gun when it went off. A relative says the man was emptying the gun when it fired. Investigators say the bullet hit the man in the hand before hitting Samantha Reynolds, 20, in the abdomen. Reynolds later died at the hospital.

Editor’s note: An earlier version of this story incorrectly identified the man involved in the incident and his relationship to the victim. We apologize for the error.
