Free street parking downtown for Azalea Festival

Friday, April 13th, 2012

WILMINGTON, NC (NEWS RELEASE) — The city’s downtown on-street parking will be free starting at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 13, and all day on Saturday, April 14 for Azalea Festival activities. Parking will be free in the Central Business District, which extends from Ann to Brunswick streets and from Water and Nutt to Fourth streets. On-street parking is always free on Sundays. Signs will be posted to alert visitors about the free parking.

There will be a $7 entry fee to park in the Second Street Deck, the Market Street Deck and the New Hanover County deck located beside the library on Friday night beginning at 9 p.m., as well as Saturday and Sunday.

Parking in the Hannah Block lot next to the Community Arts Center is $5. The city’s parking lot at the corner of Second and Market streets will host events, so public parking will not be available.

Private lots and decks
Several private parking lots and decks are operated within the city. These lots are privately owned and operated. The City of Wilmington has taken measures to ensure that these lots are adequately marked with signage; however, many of these lots are not free to the general public for this event.

For more information, contact City Parking Manager Betty Gurganus at (910) 342-2786.
