Young mother’s death under investigation in Sunset Beach

Monday, April 23rd, 2012

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A 28-year-old mother of two in Sunset Beach is dead as investigators try and figure out what happened.

Neighbors and family members say the victim is Megan Tysinger, who was a long time Brunswick County EMS worker. Tysinger leaves behind daughters aged seven and four. Relatives say the younger girl was playing in the yard at the time of her mother’s death.

Family says she had only moved to Sunset Beach about three weeks ago and that they are “completely blown away” by the death.

The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office initially responded to the scene on Sea Lane for a shooting. Investigators say the death is still under investigation.

“We don’t think there’s any danger of anybody on the loose or anything of that nature,” Chief Deputy Charlie Miller said. “There’s no reason for any of the neighbors of that area to be alarmed as to somebody on the loose or a killer or something out there.”

Sunset Beach Police are also helping in the investigation.

The Sheriff’s Office is waiting on an autopsy before they determine the cause of the death.
