BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A 17-year-old Bladen County boy is in jail charged with raping a 12-year-old girl. Deputies arrested Dennis Michael King Jr. of Clarkton yesterday and charged him with first-degree rape.

The Sheriff’s Office says the 12-year-old was at a house on McKoy Road near Clarkton Saturday with King and a couple of friends. Everyone had left except King and the child. Investigators say as she tried to leave, King blocked the door and would not let her leave and raped her.

Romney says NC Gingrich supporter now backing him

Friday, April 20th, 2012

RALEIGH, NC (AP) — Mitt Romney says the honorary chairman of Newt Gingrich’s North Carolina’s campaign is now supporting the former Massachusetts governor for the Republican presidential nomination.

Romney’s campaign released a statement Friday plugging the support of former state GOP Chairman Tom Fetzer. He said in the release that Romney has proposed bold solutions to fix the nation’s spending crisis and knows how to create jobs.

Fetzer didn’t immediately return a phone call or email seeking comment, but his backing is further proof that Republicans are consolidating support for Romney in the weeks after Rick Santorum got out of the race.

Gingrich made several stops in North Carolina last week and has said he would remain in the race all the way to the Republican convention this summer.
