NC police seek suspect in shopping center death

Wednesday, June 20th, 2012

FAYETTEVILLE, NC (AP) — Fayetteville police are looking for a suspect in the shooting death of a man at a shopping center earlier this week.

Police have issued warrants for 20-year-old Xavier Christian Freeman of Cameron, accusing him of murder and armed robbery.

Officers say 25-year-old Jeremy Stevon Lockett of Fayetteville was shot after a dispute outside a shopping center Monday night.

Police spokesman Gavin MacRoberts says Lockett and another man were parked in front of the store and two men got into the back seat of the vehicle.

MacRoberts says after Lockett was shot, the two men in the back seat left in another vehicle.

MacRoberts did not know if the man with Lockett was hurt.
