WPD officers awarded medal of valor

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Several Wilmington police officers were recognized for their on-duty actions.

Four officers were awarded a medal of valor for their bravery during a domestic disturbance response in February where the suspect held a gun to a woman’s head.

City Council approves funding for Convention Center hotel

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — City leaders unanimously approved to appropriate $137,000 for the development and land sale for a Convention Center hotel.

City Manager Sterling Cheatham says the city should have about $1 mil extra in sales tax revenue this fiscal year to help pay for the project.

Elderly man from Bolivia is missing

BOLOVIA, NC (WWAY) — The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office is trying to locate a missing man.

John William Crowder of Bolivia was last seen wearing a plaid shirt and khaki pants. He’s 78 years old, 5’8 and weights 180 pounds and has blue eyes.

Crowder drives a four-door Mercury Marquis. According to the Sheriff’s office he has serious medical conditions.
