Man bites Wilmington police dog

A man attempting to elude authorities bit a Wilmington police dog during a struggle Sunday afternoon, police said.

One killed, two hurt in head-on collision on NC 133

Monday, June 18th, 2012

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — One person is dead and two others hurt after an accident on NC 133 south of Leland around 7:30 a.m.

Highway Patrol says Sheila Crocker Sorrentino of Southport died at the scene.

The other driver, Anna Pierce, was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Her son was in the back seat and suffered minor injuries

Investigators say one driver was trying to pass another vehicle when he hit another car head-on, slinging both cars to opposite sides of the road.

The accident is still under investigation, no charges have been filed at this time.
