Fire crews rescue woman from roof of house

When firefighters arrived, two civilians were trying to rescue a woman from a second-floor window, said Battalion Chief Tim Smith.

Neighbor helps save woman from apartment fire

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)– The Wilmington Fire Department responded to a fire off Wrightsville Avenue in Wilmington early Friday morning.

Responders say the fire in the apartment at 4918 Pompano Court may have started in the kitchen.

Two women were pulled from the building, one with the help of neighbors. Firefighters say the women are in stable condition at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

BREAKING NEWS: Crews rescue woman from structure fire

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)– Wilmington Fire Department crews have put out a structure fire at 4918 Pompano Court.

The fire is under control and was a kitchen fire. On arrival, crews rescued a woman from the roof that had escaped the burning structure. She was transported by EMS for further treatment.

We have a crew on the way to the scene and we’ll have more information as it becomes available.

BREAKING NEWS: Two victims treated in structure fire

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY)– New Hanover County dispatch says crews have put out a structure fire at the 4900 block of Pompano Court.

Two victims have been treated by EMS. No word on how badly the two were injured. We will have more information as it becomes available.
