Deputies say Leland man caught with 2,000 doses of heroin from NJ

Friday, August 17th, 2012

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies seized 2,000 bindles of heroin at a traffic stop yesterday.

An investigation led deputies to Christopher Joseph Mosby of Leland. They say Mosby’s goddaughter was driving him home, when deputies found the duffel bag of drugs.

A narcotics officer, who’s identity we are protecting, says because of the amount of heroin seized, the bust is huge for Brunswick County.

“Based on the fact that this guy was convicted of murder in 1994, and he’s out in 2012, and he’s obviously a major supplier of narcotics in our county,” the officer said.

Detectives say Mosby brought the duffel bag with the heroin on a bus from New Jersey.

He is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and trafficking opium or heroin.

Obama’s dream ‘super power’: Speaking any language

Friday, August 17th, 2012

WASHINGTON (AP) — If President Barack Obama could have any “super power,” it would be the ability to speak any language.

Obama discusses a number of offbeat topics in an interview with KOB-FM in Albuquerque, NM, that aired Friday, including his favorite music, red and green chili and some restaurant recommendations for his hometown of Chicago.

The president says he would “love to be able to speak any language,” even though “it might not come in handy to rescue folks from a burning building.” Obama says he’s a “big believer in making connections with people.”

Obama says Beyonce’s “Crazy In Love,” is a great song to “get my heart rate up,” and he also likes Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind and Fire and Jay-Z.

Asked his favorite chili, Obama says, “classic red.”
