WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — GI Jobs Magazine has named Cape Fear Community College a “Military Friendly School” for a second year in a row.
CFCC serves more than 570 military or family members who are using veteran benefits. The school’s veterans center gives service members a place to study, get counseling and find answers that affect them.
“Just being here and having these other people around that have a vast majority of the knowledge that I don’t have is a big help,” said student and former US Army Sgt. Victoria Breaud.
Only 20 percent of approximately 7,000 colleges in the United States are considered to be military friendly by GI Jobs Magazine.
SOUTHEASTERN NC (WWAY) — A Tornado Watch remains in effect for Sampson and Duplin counties through early evening. A strong storm system will continue to produce widespread showers/storms today. Many storms will contain heavy rain and frequent lightning, and a few storms may reach severe limits. An isolated tornado is possible locally, but a greater tornado threat exists across northeastern North Carolina. Cooler, more stable air will arrive behind this storm system.
