UNC Chancellor to step down in June amidst ethics scandal

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Chancellor Holden Thorp intends to step down at the end of this academic year because he says it's best for the future of the University.

County votes to renovate 320 Chestnut St.

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — New Hanover County Commissioners voted to breathe new life into the old administrative building at 320 Chestnut Street. The building has been empty since a water leak back in 2010.

Instead of tearing the building down and starting over, commissioners voted unanimously to renovate the building at a cost of $9.8 million.

It will take about two years before the building would be ready.

ONLY ON 3 UPDATE: CB Police think they have photos of assault suspects

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Carolina Beach Police believe they now have photos of two suspects accused of beating up a Raleigh man outside of a McDonald’s earlier this month.

Detectives say after talking to the victim, they were able to better pinpoint where the assault happened.

Columbus County leaders looking to bring trains back to Columbus Co.

FIRST ON 3: Motorcyclist airlifted after crash with deputy’s car

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Highway Patrol is investigating an accident that involved a Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputy’s cruiser and a motorcycle.

Sources tell us it happened this afternoon on Old Ocean Highway and Shingle Tree near Calabash.

We’re told the person on the motorcycle was airlifted to New Hanover Regional Medical Center. No word on his condition or how the deputy was involved.
