Oak Island officials name third interim town manager this year

Oak Island's interim town manager has resigned after serving in the position for a little over half a year.  Lisa Stites will serve in a temporary position until the permanent manager gets on board.

ONLY ON 3 UPDATE: Father continues fight for son put up for adoption

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — There are new details in the case of a father trying to get custody of the son he did not know about.

As you saw ONLY ON 3 back in May, Greg Johns found out he had a son when the baby was six months old and up for adoption. A judge denied Johns’s request to intervene.

Johns is in the middle of the appeals process, which could take another 18 months. He’s also hired a civil attorney and is planning to sue the adoption agency and his ex-girlfriend for fraud.

Video released of town manager allegedly impersonating an officer

New evidence has been released in a case against the town manager of Chadbourn, Stevie Cox. Cox was arrested in March and charged with impersonating a law officer and resisting and delaying police.

FIRST ON 3: Captain in parasailing deaths faces federal charges

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The captain of the boat involved in the parasailing death of two women in Ocean Isle Beach faces federal charges.

Under the Seaman’s Manslaughter Act, Capt. Thomas Povozan is accused of misconduct, negligence and inattention to his duties.

In 2009, Lorrie Shoup and Cynthia Woodcock died when weather turned rough and the rope that anchored the parasail snapped.

Povozan could face fines and up to ten years in prison.
