Fort Bragg general charged with adultery, other sex crimes

Wednesday, September 26th, 2012

Associated Press

FORT BRAGG, NC (AP) — US defense officials say an Army brigadier general has been charged with forcible sodomy, multiple counts of adultery and having inappropriate relationships with several female subordinates.

Two defense officials spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to provide details on the case.

At a news conference Wednesday, Col. Kevin Arata confirmed that Brig. Gen. Jeffrey A. Sinclair was facing charges but declined to provide details or take questions. Sinclair has been informed of the charges but has not yet been arrested.

The officials said Sinclair, who served as deputy commander in charge of logistics and support for the 82nd Airborne Division in Afghanistan, was sent home in May because of the allegations.

Baldor reported from Washington.

‘Modern Family’ returns tonight! Star Sofia Vergara talks about the new season

Wednesday, September 26th, 2012

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The hit ABC show and Emmy winner for Best Comedy “Modern Family” returns.

Recently we talked with star Sofia Vergara about the new season and her career.

She’s been nominated for an Emmy three times. But believe it or not, the star says she was nervous about playing the role of a young, beautiful Latin woman.

“At the beginning I was a little nervous, actually,” Vergara told “Good Morning Carolina” anchor Ashley Jacobs. “Because of my character, Gloria, I felt that maybe people were going to hate her because she was kind of like a gold digger, the very hot Latin marrying a lot older guy, and she had a kid.”

You’ll see her role change this season. Gloria is expecting a baby, which will bring more tears and laughs to the show.

“Modern family” starts at 9 p.m. right here on WWAY and ABC.
