Two Leland cops on leave after arrests in Wilmington

Tuesday, October 30th, 2012

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — Two Leland Police Officers are on leave after an incident early Saturday morning in downtown Wilmington.

Leland Town Manager David Hollis says Wilmington Police arrested Ofc. Brandon Crain and Ofc. Andrew Correll. A search of the officers’ names on the Wilmington Police Department’s website turned up an Incident/Investigation Report for affray at the corner of Front Street and Market Street, but there are no names of suspects on the reports. The New Hanover County Jail also has no record of them being booked.

The department says Crain and Correll, both patrol officers, were hired last year.

The incident is under internal investigation. Both officers were immediately placed on administrative leave without pay until the conclusion of the investigation.
