Fair canceled Sunday; extended until November 4

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Cape Fear Fair & Expo canceled Sunday night’s events due to weather conditions brought on by Hurricane Sandy. Despite Sunday’s closure, fair officials still expect big crowds throughout the week.

“We’re opening up Monday at 5PM for an extended operation,” Fair Manager Skip Watkins said. “As of about 10 minutes ago we have decided to open up next Sunday, November 4. The phone is ringing off the hook yesterday and today, and so by popular demand, we’re listening to Wilmington, and we’re going to open Sunday, because for a lot of families Sunday is the day they come out.”

All prepaid fair passes will be honored through the November 4 extension.

Oklahoma State wins Landfall Tradition

Oklahoma State was declared champion of The Landfall Tradition women's golf tournament early Sunday after Hurricane Sandy dumped heavy rain overnight on the Country Club of Landfall's Jack Nicklaus course.
