RAW VIDEO: Alleged police brutality attack against student

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A friend of UNCW student Joe Gigliotti recorded this video of Gigliotti being arrested by a Wilmington Police in September. Gigliotti was charged with resisting arrest/hinder and delay, but says he was a victim of police brutality.

Coast Guard searching for missing man

MOREHEAD CITY, NC (WWAY) — The Coast Guard is searching for a missing man who was last seen going underwater and not resurfacing. The 57-year-old was surf fishing on the south end of Portsmouth Island near Morehead City on Monday.

According to a press release, 911 dispatchers called the Coast Guard around 5:15 Monday evening.

Crews are searching for the man in the water and by helicopter.

Store robbed in Rocky Point

ROCKY POINT, NC (WWAY) — The Pender County Sheriff’s office says the man pictured walked into La Tienda Esmeralda store on Highway 117 south in Rocky Point, around 5 pm Monday, pulled out a handgun and robbed the store.

He is described as a Hispanic male, 5’ 8″ , muscular build, wearing a white jacket and a hat with ear flaps.
