Wilmington deli shoots eHow video on making perfect sandwich

Wednesday, November 28th, 2012

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Downtown Wilmington deli known for its soup and sandwiches will be featured on a celebrity chef’s web series.

A production company recently contacted Chop’s owner Brad Corpening to demonstrate how to make the perfect sandwich for eHow.com.

The segment, which was shot earlier today, will be featured on eHow as part of Rachael Ray and Buddies.

Corpening shared his secret for what makes Chop’s sandwiches so good.

“We really try to be creative with what we’re working with,” he said. “Obviously we’re using the best possible ingredients through Boar’s Head meats and cheeses. We get local-baked bread from Sweet n Savory. When we can we try and get a hold of local produce, but otherwise we’re getting the freshest stuff we can get a hold of, so the stuff going into the sandwiches is the best we can get.”

Chop’s closed early today to shoot the video, but will be back to its normal hours tomorrow.

At this time there is no word on when the segment will appear on the eHow website.

McIntyre still slightly ahead for NC congress seat

Wednesday, November 28th, 2012

GARY D. ROBERTSON
Associated Press

RALEIGH, NC (AP) — A machine recount doesn’t appear to have changed Mike McIntyre’s narrow lead in the race for a North Carolina congressional seat.

The State Board of Elections says the Democratic incumbent holds a 663-vote advantage over Republican challenger David Rouzer after 11 of the 12 counties within the 7th Congressional District finished recounts. McIntyre had a 655-vote lead over Rouzer before the recount began this week.

State board director Gary Bartlett said the 12th county – Duplin – was expected to complete its recount early Wednesday evening.

The Rouzer and McIntyre campaigns said they would make statements after Duplin is complete. Rouzer could ask for a more detailed recount.

Bartlett said a "hand-to-eye" recount involving a very close state Senate race at the coast wouldn’t start in earnest until next week.
