All clear after brief lockdown at Wilmington school

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A New Hanover County school was locked down briefly around lunchtime after someone reported hearing gunshots. The lockdown at Codington Elementary lasted just a few minutes.

A New Hanover County Sheriff’s spokesman says investigators determined the sounds of shots came from training at the Wilmington Police Departments firing range, which is about half a mile away off River Road.

School officials in Col. Co. to tweak safety plan in wake of recent shooting

Superintendent Alan Faulk believes they have a good safety plan established, but would like to add some things to the plan. According to Dr. Thom Hager with Whiteville City Schools, the shooting in Connecticut has school officials in the district looking into tweaking their crisis management plan.
