Police search for men who shot into Wilmington apartment during home invasion attempt

Monday, December 24th, 2012

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police are searching for two men who fired shots into an apartment during an attempted home invasion early this morning.

Investigators say a man heard a knock on the door to his apartment on Dove Court off Randall Parkway just before 1 a.m. He looked outside and noticed the interior light on in his car. When he went to turn it off, he noticed the rear door was open. The victim told investigators two men wearing dark clothes and masks covering their faces suddenly approached with their hands in their pockets and pulled out handguns.

The victim said they ordered him back into his apartment. As they entered, a roommate came downstairs and tried to close the front door so the intruders could not get in. Once the door was closed, the armed men fired several rounds into the window next to the front door and then ran off. No one was hurt.

If you have information, call the Wilmington Police Department at (910) 343-3600. Information also may be submitted anonymously through Text-A-Tip. Text Tip708 and the information, and send to CRIMES (274637).
