STORMTRACK 3: Winter weather update…snow reported in southeastern NC

SOUTHEASTERN NC (WWAY)– 

Winter Weather Advisories remain in effect for most of southeastern NC through midnight, as a strong storm system pushes through the state. Here’s the latest forecast:

Now – 3 PM       Rain develops, possibly mixed with snow far inland

4 PM- 11 PM     Spotty snow showers, 1+ inch accumulation inland counties, trace to 1 inch coastal counties

After Midnight-  Snow showers ending, lows in the 20’s.

Church hosts fundraiser for boy fighting cancer

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – 12-year-old Ethan Martin is fighting cancer from Cary, NC. Members of the community rallied Saturday, in hopes of alleviating the financial burden in which his family faces due to the medical costs for Ethan's treatment.

STORMTRACK 3: Winter weather update

SOUTHEASTERN NC (WWAY)– A complex storm system will create a tricky forecast. An approaching cold front will bring much colder air, and a coastal storm system could provide moisture. Winter Weather Advisories are in effect for southeastern North Carolina, which means that a trace of snow will be possible, with isolated amounts of an inch or more.

Here is a detailed timeline of events:

Saturday

6 a.m.-Noon: Clouds increase, temperatures slowly climbing into 40’s.

1 p.m.-3 p.m.: Spotty rain showers possible, temperatures slowly falling.

3 p.m.-11 p.m.: Spotty showers, possibly transitioning to light snow showers.

After Midnight: Precipitation ends, clearing skies.

Sunday

Sunny and cold, highs in the 40s.
