Friday, June 21st, 2013

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)—A new science-fiction series filmed here in the Port City will soon be making its’ way to a small screen near you.

Under the Dome is based on the best selling Stephen King novel about a small New England town that is mysteriously shut off from the world.

Natalie Martinez plays a tough cop on the soon to be released television series Under the Dome. On Thursday Martinez along with her fellow cast members watched a screening of their new show at Thalian Hall.

“Wilmington is one of those hidden gems that I really don’t want people to find out about,” said Martinez.

Dozens of media outlets from across the southeast were on hand for Thursday’s screening. Even Stephen King made his way to the Cape Fear region to promote the series that’s based on his best-selling novel. Nikki Blount made the journey from Greenville, North Carolina.

“I wouldn’t have missed it. That was fabulous. Seeing the screening of ‘Under the Dome,’ was the highlight of my entire day,” said Blount.

One of the things the cast members and crew said was that they love shooting in the Port City, because people are so friendly and that Wilmington is a great place to live and work.

The 13 episode series will begin next week.
