Hospice plans $3.1M expansion

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center has announced plans for a $3.1 million expansion.

Hospice officials plan to add a six-room wing to its existing 12-bed facility. They say the addition will meet the agency’s vision to serve everyone touched by a life-limiting illness and to serve the growing needs of the area.

In addition to the expansion, plans call for a complete renovation of the existing care center.

House move done at Wrightsville Beach

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — The Wrightsville Beach house that traveled up the Intracoastal Waterway yesterday by barge finished its journey by truck today.

The NC Coastal Federation has been working on this project for a year. It will soon be able to call the Palmgren-O’Quinn house home.

The home originally sat on South Channel Drive. It now sits in the town’s historic square on Harbor Island.

Police identify victim in fatal overnight shooting

Police are continuing to search the scene of a shooting that left one man dead and sent another person to the hospital. Officials have identified the victim killed.

TOMORROW: Downtown Sundown Concert Series: DMB Tribute Band

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Join us Friday for the FREE Downtown Sundown Concert Series.

The Dave Matthews Band Tribute Band will headline from 8:00pm – 10:00pm. Opening act, American Patchwork, will play from 6:00pm – 8:00pm. Half of the proceeds from wristband sales will benefit the Food Bank of Central & Eastern NC at Wilmington.

No pets or outside beverages permitted. Wristbands will be sold for $1 per person to those who wish to drink alcohol at the event. Beer/wine tickets available for $5 each.
