One area restaurant chain is trying to help out tornado victims in addition to flipping burgers.

Officials with DAK Americas confirmed Wednesday afternoon its plant located in Navassa will close in September.
NAVASSA, NC (WWAY) — DAK Americas has called a news conference this afternoon to announce its Cape Fear Manufacturing Site in Navassa is shutting down.
Several people close to the situation tell us employees were told around 11:00 a.m. that the plant would be closing this fall.
In February the company said it was considering shutting all or part of the facility, which employs a total of 600 full-time and contract workers. At the time a company spokesman also said the review could also mean additional investment.
Navassa Mayor Eulis Willis said he had not heard about the news conference when we contacted him.
“I hope its good news,” Willis said.
Brunswick County Economic Development Director Jim Bradshaw said he did know what the announcement would be, but said he wouldn’t comment until after its made.
