Wrightsville Beach bridge closed to nightly traffic starting Monday

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — The Wrightsville Beach bridge will be closed to nightly traffic beginning tomorrow.

The bridge will be shut down from 11:30 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Crews will be doing maintenance on the bridge’s structural steel.

They expect the work will extend through Thursday morning, weather permitting.

The NCDOT says emergency vehicles will have access and law enforcement officers will be stationed on each end of the bridge during the closures.

THIS JUST IN: Moped driver in serious condition after crash on N. 3rd Street

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A moped driver is in serious condition after veering into a truck on the 1000 block of N. North 3rd Street according to Wilmington Police.

Investigators on scene said the white male has serve injuries to his head, and suspect he did not have his helmet properly fastened. He was transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Police closed N. 3rd Street from Harnett Street to Davis Street while they investigate.

The driver’s name has not been released.
