Firefighter hurts ankle as fire destroys mobile home

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington firefighter is recovering after hurting his ankle on a call early this morning.

The Wilmington Fire Department responded to 4800 Maple Ave. Lot 9 early this morning and found a mobile home on fire. Crews were able to put the fire out, but not before it destroyed the home and everything inside.

No one was home when the fire started. The Wilmington Police Department said the residents were out of ton.

Investigators have ruled cause of the fire as undetermined.
