BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Brunswick County woman arrested yesterday with her son used to work for two local judges. Now she’s on the other side of the law after allegedly conspiring with her son to steal from people and businesses across Brunswick County.

Wednesday Tammie Pierce and her son Kyle were arrested and charged with a number of felonies for possession of stolen goods. Today, Tammie Pierce walked out of jail after having her bond reduced from $50,000 all the way down to $2,500.

As recently as last year Tammie Pierce worked as a trial coordinator in Brunswick and Columbus counties. While in that position she worked directly under Judges Ola Lewis and Jerry Jolly.

Thursday Jolly reduced the bond for Pierce, who faces six felonies, from $50,000 to $2,500.

We tried to speak with Judge Jolly to ask if it was a conflict of interest for him to handle her bond reduction request, but were told he was not in his office. When we tried his home number, we were told he would not be home.

According to warrants the Pierces stole more than $100,000 worth of equipment from people and businesses across Brunswick County.

According to District Attorney Jon David it is up to individual judges to decide whether or not they have a conflict of interest in any case. If so they are supposed to remove themselves from the hearing.

Kyle Pierce’s bond was not reduced. He is in the Brunswick County Jail under $50,000 bond.

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police say they’ve made another heroin bust, this time arresting a woman they say had her teenaged son sell the drug.

Officers executed a search warrant at 308 North 5th Ave. Tuesday. They arrested Anglena Aqunette Boynton, 36, who lives at the home, after they say they found 31 bags of heroin.

Boynton faces several drug charges, including promoting drug sales by a minor. Police say that charge stems from Boynton allegedly using her 15-year-old son to make some of the heroin sales police were investigating.

Boynton is in jail under $100,000 bond.
