Amber Alert canceled for High Point girl in stolen vehicle

THIS AMBER ALERT HAS BEEN CANCELED

HIGH POINT, NC (AP) — High Point police are looking for a 17-month-old girl who was sleeping in a vehicle that was reported stolen at a grocery store parking lot.

North Carolina officials issued an Amber Alert early Friday for Shylin Olandea Neal.

They say she was in a white 2003 Chevrolet Suburban that was stolen shortly before 10 p.m. Thursday. The vehicle has North Carolina tag BJX-1565 with an “I love wake boarding” sticker.

The girl’s grandmother told WGHP-TV the keys were in the vehicle.

Shylin is a black female, about 18 inches tall and weighs 24 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a turquoise onesie with pink yellow and turquoise hearts and blue clog shoes. Her hair is braided with blue and clear beads.

Convenience store on Market Street robbed

A Scotchman convenience store on Market Street near Kerr Avenue was robbed early Friday morning, according to the Wilmington police.

WPD: Woman attacked with hammer, robbed; witness shoots at suspect

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police say a woman was attacked and robbed as she left work last night on Old Eastwood Road.

WPD spokeswoman Linda Rawley said the woman was leaving a business at 102 Old Eastwood Road around 9:30 p.m. when an unknown black man came up behind her and starting hitting her in the head with a hammer.

Police say a witness heard the noise and yelled to the suspect, who said he had a gun. That’s when the witness pulled out his gun and started shooting at the suspect.

The suspect got away with the victim’s purse in a silver car.

The woman, who’s name police are not releasing, was taken to the hospital. There’s no word yet on her condition.
