WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police are searching for a man they say robbed a 19-year-old UNCW student after she gave him a ride.

It all started at Courts & Sports in the early morning hours. According to police, the victim had given a man a ride to 5041 Market Street. She didn't know the soon-to-be attacker, but a friend had told her he was "cool."

At 1:58 a.m. Wilmington Police responded to a call for a common law robbery. It turns out, the man the young woman had given a ride forced his drugs on her and then stole from her.

The victim told police the suspect forced his pipe into her mouth, presumably full of crack cocaine. She began having a panic attack and the suspect stole money and her iPhone from the vehicle's center console.

The victim told police her attacker took off into the woods and officers began looking for him but couldn't find him. At this point, they are still looking for a black male approximately 6 feet tall.
