Back Door Kitchen Tour Art Unveiling

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The residents of Old Wilmington unveiled the featured artwork for the 8th annual Back Door Kitchen Tour that’s coming in October.

Our food expert Alicia Ross was at the Crescent Moon in Downtown Wilmington for the unveiling.

Kathleen McLeod was the artist of the beautiful drawing.

Brunswick County deputy arrested, fired for prostitution

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC, (WWAY) — A deputy with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s office has been arrested.

The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit arrested Timothy Paul Caulder for two counts of solicit crimes against nature (oral sex), two counts of solicit for prostitution, and one count of willful fail discharge duties.

According to a news release, the charges are a result of a two week internal investigation by the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office of Professional Standards who referred the investigation to the Drug Enforcement Unit.

Sheriff John Ingram says, “We, as law enforcement officers, are not above the law. We will not tolerate anyone from this agency to abuse their position.”

Caulder was hired as a detention center deputy in December, 2011 and was promoted to a road deputy in August, 2012.

Caulder was terminated immediately, and is being held in the Brunswick County Detention Facility under a $2,500 bond.
