Council gets look at proposed Arts Center parking lot upgrades

Monday, September 30th, 2013

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington City Council got a look today at potential improvements to the parking area near the Hannah Block Community Arts Center.

Overall council members are impressed with the design and functionality of the changes for the lot at Church Alley and S. 2nd Street.

There will be more lights, better organized spaces, an automated pay system and a handicap access ramp.

Concerns about the lot got extra attention after Joshua Proutey, a CFCC student who worked at the arts center, was shot and killed in the parking lot last year during a robbery.
