Bladen County town preps for annual Peanut Festival

School locked down as officers search for suspect who ran near Mayfaire

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — New Hanover County Sheriff’s deputies are searching for a suspect who ran while they were trying to serve warrants, a spokesman says.

Deputies have locked down Blair Elementary School nearby as they search.

Sgt. Jerry Brewer says officers have set up a search perimeter near the Harris Teeter in Mayfaire. He said deputies have arrested one person and are looking for another.

Brewer says the two men worked at Landfall. He says the one who ran took off across Military Cutoff Road. So far investigators have not found him.
