HAPPENING TOMORROW: State of the Cease Fire

Thursday, September 26th, 2013

WILMINGTON, NC (NEWS RELEASE) — Members of ‘Boots on the Ground,’ local clergy and community leaders will convene to share information about the 90 Day Cease Fire and future plans to reduce gun violence.

On Thursday, June 27th The Wilmington Police Department joined forces with ‘Boots on the Ground’ a community group made up of more than 50 pastors and community leaders. The group urged gang members and those involved with the recent violence to put down their guns and resolve their disputes sensibly. The community partners called for a 90 day Cease Fire.

Tomorrow marks that 90th day of the Cease Fire initiative and local clergy and community leaders want to share information about their future plans. Chief Ralph Evangelous and Mayor Bill Saffo are scheduled to attend the event along with other community leaders.
