RetroTV moves to channel 3.3 Friday; Cape Fear CW takes over 3.2 Monday

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Next week we’re shaking things up with the launch of Cape Fear CW. And that means Friday RetroTV, your home for classic TV shows, will move to digital channel 3.3.

You will need to rescan your channels on your set-top over-the-air converter box to find the new channel.

If you watch RetroTV on cable, you won’t have to a thing.

Channel 3.2 will become Cape Fear CW starting at 6 a.m. Monday.

Check your local listings for channel assignments for RetroTV and Cape Fear CW on cable and satellite.

UPDATE: Mold at Bellamy Elementary School forces students out

Originally officials moved 21 students into the library after mold was found in a mobile unit at Bellamy Elementary School, but now, some 5th graders are being moved to another school.

Science Channel explores region’s mysterious booms in new show

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Science Channel will feature the Cape Fear Region tomorrow on the series premiere of “The Unexplained Files.”

The episode called “The Carolina Beach Boom” profiles the so-called Seneca Guns frequently heard and felt around the region.

These inexplicable, window-shaking booms have been heard for decades leaving some speculating if the rumbles are from the ground below or even linked to aliens.

WWAY has done stories on the booms in the past, but we have found no definitive explanation.

You can find out the what the Science Channel thinks is the reason behind these booms tomorrow at 9 p.m. Check your local listings.

Despite complaints, books remain on local library shelves

It's Banned Books Week and WECT is investigating which local libraries have controversial titles. In at least one school district, books remain on the shelves even after parents and community members have complained.
