Billy Graham hospitalized again

Wednesday, November 20th, 2013

ASHEVILLE, NC (AP) — The Rev. Billy Graham has been admitted to a hospital for the second time in a month for respiratory issues.

Mark DeMoss of the Atlanta-based DeMoss Group said Wednesday the 95-year-old evangelist had been admitted for observation at Mission Hospital in Asheville. DeMoss says he expected Graham would be able to go home in a day or so.

In October, Graham went in for a regularly scheduled doctor’s visit but spent two nights in the hospital for pulmonary testing. He has been hospitalized for a number of health-related issues in the past few years and now uses a wheelchair.

Graham celebrated his birthday Nov. 7 with 900 guests, including real estate mogul Donald Trump and former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

Explosives detonation cause of boom felt in downtown, Leland

Wednesday, November 20th, 2013

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — This time, there appears to be an explanation for a boom that rattled downtown Wilmington and Leland this morning.

No, it was not the mysterious Seneca guns phenomenon that often causes unexplained shaking around the region.

New Hanover County Sheriff's Office spokesman Sgt. Jerry Brewer says it was from explosives being set off at the NHSO firing range on US 421 near the Battleship NC. Brewer says it was part of a joint training exercise with the county and the city.

The two explosions around 11 a.m. shook the building at WWAY on N. Front Street downtown. A caller told us it shook the PPD building a couple blocks away and set off car alarms in the company's parking lot. Viewers also reported feeling the concussion in Leland.
