Bryan Bros. pairing up for charity benefit extravaganza this weekend

Tuesday, November 19th, 2013
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Two tennis greats are pairing up to headline a big event at UNCW's Trask Coliseum this Sunday, and it's all in the name of charity.
Bob and Mike Bryan, the world's top ranked doubles team, have won more doubles titles than any other team in history, and the twins are playing an exhibition to benefit several non-profit groups.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the UNCW Seahawk Club, the Greater Wilmington Sports Hall of Fame, and One Love Tennis, an organization with a mission to provide tennis instruction, life skills and academic support to Wilmington's at-risk youth.
The non-profit One Love Tennis is run by local tennis legend Lenny Simpson, and he stopped by Good Morning Carolina to run through the details on all the action. Watch the full interview with anchor Ashley Jacobs, and visit bryanbros-onelove.org for more information.

FBI, BCSO ask for help finding teen missing since 2011

Tuesday, November 19th, 2013

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The FBI and the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office are looking for new tips to find a teenage girl who has been missing for more than two years.

Rachel Natacha Owens was last seen getting into a car outside of South Brunswick High School in Boiling Spring Lakes on May 5, 2011. Investigators say Rachel rode the school bus to school, then got off the bus and was seen on surveillance video getting into a small, dark-colored car possibly with a South Carolina license plate.

The FBI says Rachel has run away in the past, but has never been gone this long. She has expressed a desire to go to Mexico and may be going by the name “Raquel.” She has not had contact with any family members or friends since the day she left her high school.

Anyone with information on where Rachel may be should contact Det. Holly Locklear with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office at (910) 880-4950 or FBI Charlotte at (704) 672-6100.
