Reckless driver charged with DWI after almost hitting child

When 21-year-old Abraham Rivera Orellana hit several cars in Wilmington, police say witnesses would not let him run away. People standing near Market Street and Lennon Drive held Orellana until officers arrived Saturday afternoon, according to Lt. Blanton with WPD.

New Hanover Co. School buses delayed after vandalism

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — New Hanover County Schools say they’re trying to minimize delays after about 20 buses were vandalized over the weekend.

Buses are running late this morning after someone cut the accelerator cables to several buses. The school system alerted parents with an automated phone message and tweeted the news earlier this morning: “Regarding the vandalism to the buses, someone cut the accelerator cables to about 20 buses at the Laney Bus Garage over the weekend.”
