BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Anthony Marzano has resigned as Brunswick County Emergency Services Director.
Marzano says his last day officially is Dec. 6, but that he will use vacation for most of that time. He says he is heading back to his native Illinois tomorrow for the funeral of his mentor and then Thanksgiving.
Marzano said “it’s time for new adventures.”
“It’s been a great experience,” Marzano told WWAY by phone this afternoon. “We’ve accomplished a lot.”
He pointed to things like getting county emergency agencies onto the VIPR radio system, getting grants to upgrade the 911 center and rewriting the county’s emergency plan as significant accomplishments in his 3.5 years in the job.
Marzano would not give specifics on his plans for the future saying a deal is not “signed, sealed and delivered.”
A county spokeswoman has not yet returned a call for comment and more information.
