North Topsail Beach home destroyed by fire

NORTH TOPSAIL BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Ashes and burnt wood litter the ground around a pricey oceanfront North Topsail Beach home that burned down over the weekend.

Firefighters say the nine-bedroom, nearly 5,000 square foot home is a total loss.

The North Topsail Beach Fire Department along with Holly Ridge, Turkey Creek and Verona responded to a fire at 114 Oceanview Lane just before 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

Crews had the fire under control within a couple of hours and were able to keep the flames from spreading to other homes.

Tax records show the oceanfront home That stands less than a mile from the North Topsail Beach Town Hall was worth $651,000.

No was was injured in the fire, but there was some minor heat damage to the house next door.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
