SOUTHEASTERN, NC (WWAY) — A Tornado Watch has been issued for the entire viewing area until 2 a.m. This includes New Hanover, Brunswick, Bladen, Pender, Robeson, Columbus, Duplin, Onslow and Sampson Counties.
A warm front associated with an area of low pressure to the west is lifting over the region Saturday evening. With warm, moist air available and lots of energy to work with, strong thunderstorms and isolated tornadoes could develop.
The main threat with this event will be gusty, damaging winds in any strong storms that may develop. The system passes through in the way of a cold front by late Saturday evening/early Sunday morning, followed by cooler and drier conditions.
