House all decked out for Christmas

Tuesday, December 24th, 2013

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — ‘Tis the season to deck the halls…but one house in Wilmington maybe brighter than the rest.

Christmas is almost here and thousands of people from around the Port City have converged on one neighborhood, to check out one very special house that is over flowing with Christmas cheer.

“It’s Christmas crazy,” said Kirby Porter, Homeowner.

Porter is one of the masterminds behind the greatest Christmas show to ever hit Springtime Road in Wilmington.

“It’s primarily done for the kids. The kids love it and they love the bubbles and the sleigh rides,” said Porter.

Porter and his wife have been decorating the outside of their home for nearly 10 years.

They say every year it gets bigger and bigger. Last year; more than 5,000 people stopped by to see the lights.

This year 7-year-old Xander Lee and his brothers came to see it in person. Xander says Christmas is his favorite time of the year.

“All the lights on houses and people that give thanks to everybody,” said Lee.

The magic doesn’t stop in the front yard. The family now invites visitors to come inside.

“It started small and it has grown from there,” said Porter.

Xander’s older brother hopes this Christmas is better than last year.

“I got a little bit of coal last year, but hopefully I was better this year,” said Guion Lee.

The magical winter wonderland begins every night at 6:15 weather permitting and will run until New Year’s Eve.
