Mayfaire stores close as restaurants, theater stays open

Tuesday, January 28th, 2014

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Most of the retail stores were closed today at Mayfaire Town Center.

A spokeswoman says the shopping center was closed to prepare for the weather. However a few restaurants stayed open.

The bar manager at Fox & Hound says they plan to stay open until 2 a.m. He says it’s days like today when they generally see a boost in business.

“It’s kinda treated like a holiday in a sense with a lot of places,” Daren Helmes said. “We’re open on Christmas day, which is one of the busiest days of the year for us. It’s a big movie day, and our location definitely helps.”

A manager at Regal Cinemas Mayfaire says they will remain open unless conditions get worse.

No word yet if Mayfaire’s stores will be open tomorrow.
