Trial for 2011 Wilmington murder to start today

Monday, January 27th, 2014

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A trial is scheduled to start today for a 2011 Wilmington murder.

The District Attorney’s Office says a jury was selected Thursday for Garry Orlando Hines, 20. He is accused of shooting and killing Cornelius Blanks, 20, during an early-morning fight in May 2011 outside Club 609 at Market St. and Kerr Ave.

The DA’s Office says administrative matters will be handled this morning. The jury is scheduled to come in at 2 p.m.

Hines also faces several heroin-related charges in an unrelated case.
