UPDATE: WPD says call about stabbing turned out to be fight with scissors

Wednesday, February 19th, 2014

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police are investigating an early morning call about a stabbing that they say sent one person to the hospital.

When police got to the scene at the intersection of 15th and Castle Streets around 7 a.m., they say they discovered that no one had been stabbed there. Police say instead, they found two men at 1603 Castle Street who had gotten into a fight inside the home before it moved outside.

They say one man was holding a pair of scissors when the fight happened, leaving the other with minor scrapes and bruises. Police say one man was taken to the hospital, where he was treated for those injuries.

Wilmington Police are still investigating after they say witnesses at the scene did not cooperate with officers. No charges have been filed.
