‘Private Practice’ alum joins ‘Secrets & Lies’ cast; kids needed as extras

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — One of the stars of a canceled ABC show is staying with the network and its Wilmington-shot pilot for “Secrets & Lies.”

KaDee Strickland is joining the cast of the crime drama, set to start shooting in the Port City this month, Deadline.com reports. Strickland played Charlotte on the medical drama “Private Practice,” which ended its sex-season run last year. Strickland will play the wife of Ryan Phillippe, who plays a family man who becomes a prime suspect in a murder mystery after finding the body of a young boy.

Deadline also reports Belle Shouse, 13, will play the daughter of Phillippe and Strickland.

Meanwhile other kids have a chance to be part of the show. Sheila Brothers at The Wilmywood Daily reports casting agents are looking for more young extras for the show. You can get more info at WilmywoodNC.com.

UPDATE: Police say call about stabbing turned out to be fight with scissors

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police are investigating an early morning call about a stabbing that they say sent one person to the hospital.

When police got to the scene at the intersection of 15th and Castle Streets around 7 a.m., they say they discovered that no one had been stabbed there. Police say instead, they found two men at 1603 Castle Street who had gotten into a fight inside the home before it moved outside.

They say one man was holding a pair of scissors when the fight happened, leaving the other with minor scrapes and bruises. Police say one man was taken to the hospital, where he was treated for those injuries.

Wilmington Police are still investigating after they say witnesses at the scene did not cooperate with officers. No charges have been filed.
