Aquarium prices go up Saturday

Wednesday, February 26th, 2014

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A trip to the aquarium will cost more starting this weekend.

The North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources, which runs the state’s three aquariums, including the one at Forst Fisher, says fees will increase by a about $3 starting Saturday. The agency says the hike is part of an effort to offset a 30 drop in state funding since the last price increase eight years ago.

The $2.95 increase will bring the adult charge to $10.95; ages 62 and up to $9.95 and children, ages 3-12, to $8.95. The new fee structure also includes a military rate of $9.95. Children ages 2 and under are free.

WPD helps ‘Secrets & Lies’ star prepare for role

Wednesday, February 26th, 2014

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — How do you prepare to shoot a crime drama in Hollywood East? Study along side Wilmington Police, of course.

That’s apparently what “Secrets & Lies” star Juliette Lewis did. The actress, who will play a detective in the ABC pilot set to start shooting this week in Wilmington, Tweeted a photo yesterday with some WPD detectives, writing, “Playing a detective so I’m hanging with detectives.”

An hour later, Lewis posted another Tweet that detectives told her about two finding two popular crime movies, including one of her own biggest roles, in the home of “almost every suspect.”
