Son of former BSL police chief charged with heroin possession

The son of a former Boiling Spring Lakes police chief was arrested Thursday in Wilmington with several bags of heroin, according to police.

Michael Ballree, 28, and Richard David Johnson, 25, were each charged with possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia. Michael Ballree is the son of former Police Chief Emmett Ballree, who was indicted by a grand jury in 2012 on a charge of helping his felon son get a weapon, according to court documents.
