Food Truck Frolic bigger than anticipated, huge success

Monday, March 24th, 2014

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — It was hard to tell where some lines ended and others began at the first ever Food Truck Frolic.

Folks flooded Ogden park Sunday looking for a good time and some good food.

From noon to 5:00pm foodies got to enjoy everything from fish tacos to fine wines.

Live music and a relaxing atmosphere made for a good time, despite long lines to get food.

Volunteers for New Hanover county Park Conservancy said the turn out far surpassed expectations .

Eric Blaiser, a volunteer on the Parks board said everyone was just “tickled pink with the community participation.”

The event itself was free but a small portion of all food truck sales are going right back into the community for the improvement and continued care of New Hanover county parks.

Blaiser estimated they had served upward of 3,000 people.

He said, “based on this year’s success we’re definitely doing this again next year. “

But, you might be seeing another food truck event as soon as this fall.

This year, participating vendors included Catch the Food Truck, Poor Piggy’s, P.T.’s Olde Fashioned Grille, Trolley Stop, Fermental, Noni Bacca, and Granny Niece’s Ice Cream.
