Vehicles vandalized on NHRMC property

Man shot, killed in Delco overnight

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting death late last night.

The Sheriff’s Office says officers responded at about 11:43 p.m. to 631 Evergreen Church Rd. in Delco to reports of a person shot. They found the body of Livis Charles Owens, Jr., 46.

Deputies had responded to the area about an hour earlier to reports of multiple shots fired, but there were no reports of injuries at that time.

Investigators have not said if there are any suspects or if anyone has been arrested.

An autopsy on Owens is scheduled for Raleigh tomorrow.

Accident involving motorcycle shuts down lane on Cape Fear Memorial Bridge

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — An accident involving a motorcycle has shut down at least one lane of the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge.

Wilmington Police spokeswoman Linda Rawley says one westbound lane is closed as crews try to deal with the accident. She says there are some injuries.

Police advise drivers to avoid the area for the time being, as traffic is slowing down because of the crash.

WPD: Three suspects wanted for Monday shooting of teen

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police say they are looking for three men in connection with a shooting that targeted a 15-year-old boy Monday afternoon.

WPD spokeswoman Linda Rawley said officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert at 1500 Marstellar St. and found three .45 shell casings. As they were working on the report, police learned that a boy had arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound. Investigators say he was grazed by a bullet on the right chest.

The boy told police he was walking from Houston Moore when a white car pulled up beside him, someone inside said something and then the passenger fired at him.

The victim told police there were three men in the car, who he described as two light-skinned black males and a dark-skinned black male. The teen could not provide more of a description of a the car, Rawley said.
