ONLY ON 3: McMahon flyer says he’s a Hoggard grad; Not true

Wednesday, April 30th, 2014

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)– A campaign flyer for a New Hanover County Sheriff candidate is raising some eyebrows.

Ed McMahon’s campaign office stated he graduated from Hoggard High School in 1987. Problem is, McMahon graduated from high school in Massachusetts.

He says that he proofread the document and tried to correct it, calling this all an honest mistake.

“It’s incorrect and I apologize for that. When I checked everything and proofed it, it was correct. My wife was born and raised here, and I was not, and I’ve never, ever indicated I was,” stated McMahon.

McMahon said today was the first time he had seen the flyers since sending in his corrections.

Election Day is one week from today.
